A recent downtime incident with Adobe’s activation servers left a lot of users unable to activate their software. With a little research, I discovered what the issue was and how to fix it. In summer 2014, after a series of high-profile hacking incidents, Adobe stopped issuing new serial numbers for its products because it could not guarantee against piracy. The company stated that it would release new serial numbers for products released in 2017 and later. In other words, this issue affects all Premiere Pro CC 2015-2017 versions - from 2015 up through 2017 - because these versions were released before the cutoff point set by Adobe. After the Adobe's servers went down again early 2017, many users were unable to re-activate their software or even download it. While Adobe was apologetic about the outage, it has not provided any tools to help users recover lost activation codes. Adobe is now back online and says activation server is fully recovered. I sent my activation request on Monday morning (the second time in less than a week) and received an email that they are honored my request. The email I received stated that my serial number has been read and my software is ready for download. Since my order is past deadline for this product, I cannot purchase additional versions at this time. Adobe's response was that the activation server is back up and running. No news on whether or not they have a system to send out serial numbers over the internet. Since Adobe has effectively abandoned its older products, it’s unlikely that you will receive any activation codes for those products, so there is no reason to believe that this article is inaccurate. This article will be updated as new information comes in... In February 2016 Adobe announced a ‘Fix it’ page for those who have been unable to activate their software due to the absence of an activation code and who no longer need their product. After you have downloaded Adobe Creative Cloud, adjust your preferences to "Adobe Desktop Design Settings" (this will install Adobe's Adobe Encore CS6) and then activate the software in the same way as you did when you first purchased it. Instructions for activating your software after downloading it in this manner are not provided. The only information in the page is to download "Adobe Desktop Design Settings". There does not seem to be any other information about how to resolve activation problems after this step. Adobe also recommended that users who had signed in with an Adobe ID should use the same ID to activate their software. If this is not possible, Adobe recommends that you contact the company directly for assistance. If you are unable to activate your software, follow the steps in this article carefully, as failure to follow these steps may result in failure to activate your product. During this process, you will need to download Adobe Encore CS6. This is not necessarily required if you have activated Creative Cloud using the 'Fix it' process or if your software was activated by another method. cfa1e77820
